Government Sponsored ESL Teaching JOBS at a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Paging all history aficionados, travelers, and anyone in search of more than the usual overseas paid travel and teaching assignments. Numerous public school teaching jobs are on offer in North Gyeongsang region- a UNESCO World Heritage Shrine! In Gyeongbuk, one can step back into the ancient world and explore the wonders of antiquity's fourth largest city in Silla Dynasty's Gyeongju whose magnificence and size was only next to Constantinople, Baghdad, and Changan. Just like the Queen of England when she celebrated her 73rd birthday with the villagers of Hahoe-experience, the medieval times at Hahoe Folk Village a 600 + year old community still living the traditional Korean way in the city of Andong

The region is a living travel brochure in profusion of spectacular temples, Confucian schools, pagodas, rock-carved Buddha sculptures, traditional teashops, ancient baths, royal tombs, ruins, fortress and open-air museum. As if the overload is not intoxicating enough, there are windswept beaches in the east coast complete with photogenic landscapes in the towering mountains of its interior where you can get your fill of hiking, culture, sun and lounging around or going island hopping in the rugged and mist-kissed volcanic islands of Ulleung-do and Dokdo.

Gyeongbuk is compact and beachy with a hearty slew of history, culture and tradition to explore quaint market towns, fishing villages, and rural life. Indeed the province ticks all the right boxes for any explorer: history, architecture, culture, food, beaches, and islands - it's all there. Plus a value for money destination where your won can go a lot further than elsewhere in Korea's metros!

    What they say ...

Gyeongsangbuk Province has the most varied cultural landscape in Korea, with traditional folk villages, white-sand beach resorts and thoroughly modern cities.
       Insight Guides South Korea
Covering one-fifth of the country, the largely rural province of Gyeongsangbuk-do ("North Gyeongsang") is South Korea's largest, and one of the most popular with visitors. Here, age-old tradition lingers on to a degree unmatched anywhere else in Korea, with sights strewn around the area providing a chronological view into more than two thousand years of history.

Andong bills itself as Korea's "spiritual cultural capital," and there's no denying that the Confucian way of life still runs strong. Confucianism has had a profound effect on Korean culture and still informs a good many of the social mores of modern Korea. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Andong. The locals may have traded in their hanbok for Western clothing, and youngsters may attend modern schools, but they maintain the dignity and grace of their aristocratic ancestors. Today, Andong is a pleasant provincial town and major regional educational center. The yangban system may be gone, but in the hearts and minds of Andong, aristocracy lives on. In 1999, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 73rd birthday here, and on October 11, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is due to tour the city.
